ShapeWays es una empresa de impresión en 3D fundada en 2007 en Nueva York que ofrece soluciones para campos como la robótica, medicina, educación, arquitectura...su especialidad es producir productos a escala.
El proyecto que nos ha enamorado es "Ittyblox" que reproduce a escala 1:1000 edificios de ciudades como Nueva York, Londres, Ámsterdam, Miami o París etc. Cada edificio está representado con total detalle, los últimos incluyen leds que dan la sensación de ser ventanas iluminadas.
Los edificios se colocan sobre una base con huecos rectangulares y triangulares, de modo que puedes componer tu propia ciudad con edificios famosos de distintos lugares, por ejemplo el New York Guggenheim Museum junto al edificio Chrysler, frente a un bloque de apartamentos Art Decó de Miami en paralelo a la Santa Capilla de París.
Aunque son absolutamente increíbles ser el alcalde de tu propia "Sim City" sale tirando a carillo, cada uno de estos edificios ronda los 30€
